Players Union Promises Bettter Days Ahead For Nigerian Footballers

PLAYERS UNION HINTS BETTER DAYS AHEAD FOR  NIGERIAN FOOTBALLERS

The leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) says the new Tijani Babangida-led EXCO will work assiduously to better the plight of players in the country, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The NANPF leadership gave the assurance during an exclusive interview with Sportsmill at the Ondo State Sports Compex Akure, where they witnessed the 2018 edition of Abe & Friends football get-togther on Saturday.

The First Vice President, Clement Temile who represented Babaginda at the novelty game and the Union Secretary, Austin Popo decried the lack of funding for the union, but declared the resolve of the new EXCO to change the stories of the Nigerian players for good.

"The union has being in poor state as a result of lacking of funding, but now we have a lot of professionals on board. After the election Babaginda was in Holland to put things in motion with football body FIFPRO and as I speak Mutiu Adepoju is in Spain trying to get us to partner some other union outside the country.

"Once we can come together like this reunion here, with cooperation the sky is going to be the Iimit of the players and I can assure you that with this new EXCO, both the current and ex players will really enjoy better days." Clement posited to Sportsmill.

Earlier Austin Popo disclosed to Sportsmill that NANPF is pursuing no fewer than three cases in Nigerian Industrial Courts over players indebtedness.

The Union leadership heaped praises on Sunshine Stars' captain, Sunday Abe for moving to unite and empower players players through his annual football project, Abe & Friends.
