Premier League: Anceloti Backs Off-Form Iwobi
By Sampson Adedeji
The manager of the English premier league side Everton FC, Carlo Anceloti has thrown his weight behind the off-form Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Iwobi who joined the Toffee from Arsenal few seasons back was one of the top player for the club earlier this season playing in several roles.
The defeat to Villa was the 13th consecutive appearance in which Iwobi has failed to live up to expectations and despite his struggles, his manager had made some moves to wade off pressure.
“I think he had some good performances, and he had some difficult performances, and in other games, I tried to change a little bit the strategy. It didn’t work well but not for his fault. It was the team’s fault and the team’s mistakes.”
“He is professional but of course when there is competition sometimes you play and sometimes you are on the bench. He is not a frustrating player because he is really professional, really serious, always ready.
“Not at all is he a frustrating player because he is a really good professional with a fantastic attitude," Anceloti told Liverpool Echo.
