Problem of Nigeria Football Is Endemic - Dalung By Sampson Adedeji Former Minister of Youth and sports Development Solomon Dalung has described the present situation of Nigeria football to how it was when he assumed office in 2015, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Dalung served as Minister of Youth and sports Development between 2015 to May 2019. While speaking to BSNsports, Dalung felt so sad that Nigeria was unable to make it to the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 after crashing out during the qualifier. He added that the problem of Nigeria football is endemic and suggested that legal order to regulate the activity of Nigeria football can turn things around. " I think it's a sad development that we have returned to where we were in 2015, when I assumed office as a minister of sports, I think it was worse in 2019 where we lost all qualifications including the Olympics where we are even the defending champion in the Africa qualifiers. "But I think the problem of Nigeria Football is endemic and to me I believe that the absence of a legal order to regulate the activities of the Nigeria football is responsible for the dwindling fortune of football in Nigeria because where there is no law and people take the place of law and in the circumstance, you cannot even hold anybody accountable because what parameter are you going to use. "If we must address the problem of Nigeria Football, it has to holistic and radical, we must enact a legislation that would define the relationship between football federation, government, private sponsors, state and the international agency which is FIFA, anything short of this will take us worse than what we are witnessing now. Dalung also spoke on FIFA giving NFF president a clean bill of health to run for FIFA Council. "Well, I'm not anti any Nigerian, I only talk on issues and while in office, there are issues which came under my consideration and I dealt with them as the man in charge. "FIFA is in a better position to explain and I don't want to dabble into their international politics because if you look at what is happening in the international football, someone is indicted today and cleared tomorrow, so, it means, we have not be able to understand the jurisprudence of international football until clear and transparency, " he concluded.
