The honourable minister of Youths and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung has said that personal interest of sports administrators over national interest is responsible for the leadership problems we are witnessing in many sports federations across the country, BSN Sports reports.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng in Abuja, Dalung said "Though we inherit some of these leadership problems in different federation, but having taken a critical look at the problems we discovered that it all boiled down to satisfying personal interest at the expense of the national interest.
"Even when they know the consequences of their actions. This has been a major problem that we must solve. Nigeria must come first in whatever we want to do. If this is done, then our sports will not be in this mess and we should be competing with the best countries around the globe."
The minister added that the problems dragged on because the parties involved are not ready to shift grounds to find a lasting solution.
