Prudent Energy Handball Premier League Kick Off at Rowe Park By Cosmos Chukwuemeka Akisi The phase 2 of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League commenced on Wednesday at Rowe Park Sports Center im Yaba, Lagos. The men and women handball teams played each with determination and vigor to the delight of the fans who trouped to the sports center to watch the best of handball. Niger United extended their lead on the log standings of the men league as they defeated a determined and motivated COAS Shooters side 36-27. Safety Shooters consolidated on their second position spot on the log as they narrowly defeated Kano Pillars 25-24. Other results saw Plateau Vipers and Owena Kings playing out a draw of 26 -26 while Lagos Seasiders defeated Prison Key Boys 31-19. Bornu Spiders got the better of Sokoto Rima 32-28 while Civil Defense outscored Kada Stars 30-23. For the women, Plateau Peacocks are just a point behind leaders Safety babes on the log as they did enough to defeat Owena Queens 36-27. Safety babes however threw away a 3 goal lead as they had to settle for a draw with Imo Grasshoppers 21-21. Kada Queens compounded the worst of Desert Queens who are last on the log standings of the league 32-15 while Seasiders babes defeated Abia Valianta 34-13 Also, Defender babes just all but got a narrow victory over Edo dynamos 17-16. The day two promises to be even more exciting as the teams have bee motivated by the Hand ball federation of Nigeria under the leadership of Samuel Ocheho and the sponsor Prudent Energy to give the fans the best of excitement that they will always remember.
