Prudent Energy Handball League Enters Day 2

It was a fantastic day at the Prudent Energy Handball League, phase 2 matchday 2 as the men and women teams respectively played each other out to gain points at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba.
For the men, the day began with Sokoto Rima Strikers compounded the woes of last position, Prison Key Boys, defeating them 23-17 while 6th place Plateau Vipers defeated D.Defenders 27-25 in what was a very tight affair between the two teams.
Kada Stars outscored Bornu Spiders 31-23 while Lagos Seasiders, inspired by the heroics of goalkeeper Mubarak Bello, delighted the Lagos fans with a sweet 33-24 victory over Kano Pillars.
The fans still had more to excite them as a last second goal by Owena Kings earned them a 24-24 draw with COAS Shooters in what was a pulsating match between the duo.
The final match for the men saw the battle for the top of the log standing as league leader Niger United got the shock of their lives as they lost to rival Safety Shooters 28-26.
The two teams are leveled on points but Niger United lead the park on head to head despite them having 22 points alongside Safety Shooters.
For the women, league leaders, Safety babes defeated Kada Queens 23-19 while Plateau Peacocks continue their push for the top of the log standing with a comfortable 31-23 over Defender Babes.
Lagos fans got a feel of the eastern oriental as Imo Grasshoppers defeated Abia Valiants 32-15 while Edo Dynamos got back to winning ways after comfortably outscoring Desert Queens 28-10.
The match between Owena Queens and Seasiders Babes which ended 29-24 in favour of Owena Babes was cancelled following a protest petition submitted by Seasider Queen alleging that Owena Babes fielded two ineligible players.
After looking into the matter the board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria decided to cancel the match and awarded Seasider Babes 10-0 over Owena Babes.
Meanwhile, Mubarak Bello of Lagos Seasiders and Cynthia Vincent voted the Most Valuable Players of the day for the men and women league respectively. They were each presented with a plaque and =N=10,000 for helping their team win comfortably in the match day.
