PSG 1-1 Barcelona (AGG 5-2) : Catalans fail to reach the CL quarters for the first time in 14 years

PSG
Barcelona have been eliminated from the Champions League after drawing 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain and losing 5-2 on aggregate.  Barcelona suffered a 4-1 loss in the first leg of the tournament before settling for a 1-1 draw in the return leg. Kylian Mbappe gave PSG the lead from the spot before Lionel Messi scored a beauty for the Catalans. However, the Argentine failed to reduce the deficit as his penalty was saved by Navas just before halftime. PSG were awarded a penalty in the 29th minute after the English team of referees had spotted an infringement. Lenglet was clumsy as he stood on the back of Icardi's heel. Mbappe stepped up and sent the ball on the top corner, leaving Barcelona in the need to score four goals without reply to force extra time. Lionel Messi leveled the scores with a wonderful strike from about 30 yards. The Barca captain had the ball in the middle, took and touch and Dembele was waiting for a pass but Messi sent a quite breathtaking swerving strike into the top corner. Just before halftime, the Catalans were awarded a penalty after Kurzawa brought Griezmann down in the danger zone. There was a quick VAR check and the referee's decision stood. Messi stepped up to take it but his effort was kept out by Navas.
