PSL: Akpeyi's Kaizer Chiefs Manager Sacked
By Sampson Adedeji
The club coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, Gavin Hunt has been showing the exit door by the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Following the 2-1 defeat to Black Leopards this week, Chiefs' run of two wins in their last 17 league games has seen Amakhosi management uncharacteristically pull the trigger before the end of the season.
The historic run towards the CAF Champions League semi-final was not enough to save the four-time league winner from being relieved of his duties before finishing one season into the three-year contract he signed in September last year.
"Kaizer Chiefs have terminated coach Gavin Hunt’s contract with immediate effect," the club statement read.
"In the interim, Assistant Coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team. The Club will make further announcements in due course."
Hunt oversaw 44 games in charge of the Soweto giants with a record of 12 wins, 17 draws and 15 defeats across all competitions.
