By Niyi Busari

The immediate past minister of youth and sports Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung has said that the secret behind his success while in office for three and half years was that he put the love and interest of Nigeria first in everything he did, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

To butress the fact, Dalung pointed to the democratization he brought to all the sports federations by forcing them to go into elections which led to the laurels, titles, and achievements the country enjoyed during his time as minister.

He reiterated that if he did not stand his ground and insisted that the board of each federation should vote for the right person who will take their respective sport federation to the promise land, Nigeria wouldn't have witnessed the glories Basketball, Wrestling, Volleyball, to mention but a few have brought to the country in the last three years.

"Many people wondered how i achieved so much during my time in office, they believed that i wouldn't survive one year in office because they claimed i know nothing about sports. Dalung told BSN Sports.

"They forgot that anyone who love his country passionately and take decisions in the best interest of the country will likely succeed. There is no magic, i just discovered that all sports federations achievements were on the rise."

"It would have been so difficult for me to achieve so much if i put my personal interest above national interest. He concluded.

Dung who is one of the federal government delegation to Egypt whose visit is to cheer Super Eagles to victory believed that the three time African champions will pick the quarter final ticket at the expense of their West African counterparts, Cameroon on Saturday.
