Barely three weeks to the 2022 World Cup playoffs against Black Stars of Ghana, Nigeria's Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen, will have to plan without Watford FC defender William Troost Ekong, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
Ekong was among the players listed by the Nigeria gaffer for the doubleheader match slated for Cape Coast and Abuja.
Manager of Watford Roy Hodgson on Friday confirmed that Ekong has been ruled out of action for few weeks due to strain and not knock.
" Troost-Ekong has suffered a similar injury, and both will be out “for the foreseeable future.
“It’s a muscle strain, the same and it’s going to keep him out of the equation for the foreseeable future, but I don’t know how long exactly.
“It’s not a minor thing, it’s not a knock, he has muscle strains, and that can take anything from a week to four weeks to recover from," he said.
The Hornets will continue their push to survive the drop when they face Arsenal on Sunday at the Vicarage Road.
