Nigeria's Super Eagles emerged victorious in the match-day 5 of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier against Lone Star of Liberia in Tangier, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
The Nigeria side lived up to expectations by dominating the game from the blast of the whistle pegging back the Lone Stars attackers.
Their domination quickly paid off as they were awarded a spot kick after Kelechi Iheanacho was brought down in the box.
Napoli of Italy forward Victor Osimhen confidently converted the kick and made 1-0 in favour of Nigeria and also ensured that Nigeria returned to the dressing room a with a lead.
The second half resumed with 3-time African champions still in control of the game and the introduction of Bright Ejuke further gives Nigeria the upper hand.
Team skipper, Ahmed Musa came in later in the game and netted the second goal from the spot after Liberia's goalkeeper brought down Osimhen.
Despite winning 2-0, Nigeria will have to wait and beat Cape Verde in the final group game in Lagos on Tuesday to seal playoff tickets.
