Ahead of the November's rounds of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier, Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed the reason he want former striker Odion Ighalo back in the team, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
The debates on the former Manchester United striker returning to the Super Eagles team has been on in the past few weeks as the clash against Liberia and Cape Verde draws closer.
Ighalo retired from the team after helping them to a third-place finish in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
While speaking on his return, Rohr said the team has good strikers but the experience and goals of Ighalo will further propel the them.
"We missed his leadership, experience and the goals, he was best scorer in the qualifier and AFCON.
"Ighalo is a very important man, I hope that he can come back. I put him in the provisional list, he's doing well in his club and still very ambitious to help his country."
"We have very young and good scorers like Moffi, Onuachu and Osimhen is number one in our strikers but we don't have anyone like Ighalo.
"He's different and a special player, I think our team need his maturity and experience," Rohr said.
