Rabat 2019: Makanjuola Shines As Burkina Faso Hold Nigeria in Football Event
By Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's Flying Eagles started their campaign in the 12th All African Games on a not too impressive note as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Burkina Faso.
Expectedly, Makanjuola started the game and was the cynosure of all eyes with his inspiring display at centre of the midfield, in a match played at the Stade Hassan Moulay in Rabat.
His moves led to the Nigeria side securing a corner kick which was taken by Abubakar Ibrahim and was well connected by Ahmed Ghali in the 58th minute.
The Nigeria side wasted too many scoring chances which gave Burkina Faso confidence and believe that they can bounce back.
Their efforts paid off in the 72nd minute as they leveled the game, Nigeria has a ball over the line but was cancelled by the centre referee.
Nigeria next match is against South Africa and coach Paul Aigbogun is expected to make changes which might see Emeka Chinonso coming into the side.
