Director, Grassroots Sports Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr Ademola Are has reassured Nigerians that the country's contingents at the ongoing 2019 African Games will start winning medals as vents in which Nigeria have comparative advantage starts from Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Are, while speaking with journalists in Morocco on Monday admitted that other African countries are catching up with the most populous country in Africa but remained optimistic that the 'never say die' attitude of Nigerians will steer them to the podium which in turn will translate to climbing to the top of the medals table.

Despite his optimism he has doubt on whether Nigeria can come top on the medals table due to the country's inability participating in many multi-medals winning games.

"Though, we have not been able to win any medal so far as Judo event came to an end yesterday, however, we still looking forward to start in some in most of the sports where we have advantage and we will start winning medals as soon as possible."

"As Nigerian and been very realistic we cannot come first in some sports with the way things are, looking at the sports in which the North Africans and South Africans have advantage over us like shooting, swimming, gymnastics, where we have multi-medal opportunities, Nigeria is not very proficient in those sports. But we can look forward to doing our utmost best at least to be on 4th to 5th on medals table of this sports."

Ademola Are concluded.
