By Sampson Adedeji
After missing the first match against host country Morocco, the interim coach of the South Africa U20, Amajita Helman Mkhalele has confirmed the readiness of the team for Nigeria clash.
South Africa and Nigeria's Flying Eagles will go head to head on Tuesday in second group match at the Stade Hassan Moulay with both teams eyeing a win.
The team coach stated that they are ready to edge Nigeria again after securing a third place finish at the 2019 U20 African Cup of Nations in Niger.
“We are expecting a tough match because as you know, there is rich history of rivalry between the two countries, regardless of the age group we are competing in,” Mkhalele said.
“Nigeria will go into this tie with a desire to avenge their this year’s 3rd/4th playoff U-20 AFCON defeat, however, we are ready for them, he said.
At this year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, South Africa beat Nigeria 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after fulltime, to secure their first ever third place finish in an U-20 AFCON tournament.
