Rangers Target Maximum Points Against CS Sfaxien in CAF Confederation Cup

TOTAL Confederation cup 2018/2019 hopefuls, Rangers International F.C of Enugu, players are optimistic of defeating Tunisian giant, CS Sfaxien inside the 18,000 capacity, Stade Taieb Mhiri, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With the maximum points at stake, Rangers target a win in the match Day 2 game of Group B of the competition.

After a comprehensive 2-0 victory over visiting Burkina-Faso side, Salitas F.C on match Day 1, the coach Olugbenga Ogunbote tutored lads are full of confidence going into the mid-week encounter against the ‘Juventus El Arab’ that parades former Enyimba midfielder, Kingsley Sokari.

Captain of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Okey Odita said in a chat, “We are confident going into this match against Sfaxien in Tunisia and we believe that we shall come back with a good result. They are a good side by all standards and we respect them for being a former winner of the trophy but on the pitch, we shall do the needful to ensure that we put ourselves in the best position to qualify for the quarter-final before the last round of matches.”

Also speaking, midfield maestro, Ajani Ibrahim, said, “We may be seen as the weak team going into this match and that fits us very well as our target is to go there and surprise them. By God’s grace, we shall come back with a good result. The three points at stake is not too far away.”

Two goals off the boots of competition’ leading scorer, Godwin Aguda and Nigerian born Benin international, Isaac Loute ensured the Enugu side kick started the group stage on a flying note going into match Day 2 of the competition.

It would be recalled that C.S Sfaxien after a 1-0 aggregate loss to Rangers in the 2013 edition of the competition progressed further to emerge winners of that season’ edition after it’s protest against the use of goalkeeper, Emmanuel Daniel by Rangers was upheld by CAF.

Both sides are on three points from their match Day 1 victories with the Nigerian side occupying the prime position courtesy of the higher number of goals scored in a group that has Salitas F.C of Burkina-Faso and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in a group that parades teams that started the race on the same level because all were registered for the Total Confederation cup from the preliminary stage.
