RCCG Inter-Provincial Football Competition Gets Kick off Date
…As 16 Teams Jostle For Honours

The Maiden edition of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Region 10 Inter-provincial Football Competition is scheduled to kick off on March 22nd at Area 10 mini stadium in Abuja Stadium, Abuja.
The league which consists of 16 registered provincial clubs who are based in Abuja will be played in a league format in different pitches but the kick off and the final will take place at Area 10 mini stadium.
Speaking at the press conference at the RCCG Region 10 in Abuja, the Assistant General Overseer, Pastor Ezekiel Odeyemi while unveiling the football competition in Abuja on Wednesday disclosed that the of the aim of the competition is to take many of the idle youths off the streets and exploit their passion through the love of Christ with a promising future driven by sports.
He also revealed that the competition is also aimed at bringing people to Christ.
According to him, we believe that the church as a significant institution in the society is not just a religious organization, but also a life-transforming institution commissioned and empowered by the Lord Jesus Christ to preach the good news and to organize life-changing corporate social activities through her CRS programmed and outreaches.
“In the face of the challenges confronting the youths of this nation in times like this; such as unemployment, drug abuse and being victims of all kinds of negative social vices, reaching out to them in creative and rewarding ways has become very crucial.
“It is with this reality in mind that the region has decided to embark on this maiden edition of the inter-provincial football competition. This is aimed at taking many of the idle youths off the streets to exploit their passion for football with the opportunity of finding a meaningful path for their life through the love of Christ with a promising future driven by sports.
“It is known today that, some of the top football clubs in the English premier league like Manchester city football club and several others were started by Church.
“In the coming months, the competition seeks to galvanize a professionally establish football team for this region. As God would have it, we already have established contact with an international sports organization willing to support this vision with us.”
While highlighting the event, Chairman of organizing committee Dr. Ademola Adeyinka said the tournament is the first of its kind in the city and would feature 16 teams that will play through knock out stage.
Also, the competition will last for 3 weeks as trophies, medals and many other prizes are expected to be won.
