Odion Ighalo has returned to superb goalscoring form after the World Cup at Changchun Yatai
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo was again on target with two goals for his club side Changchun Yatai in their 3-1 win over Beijing Renhe on Wednesday, August 15.
Ighalo was again on target for the sixth time since he returned to China from the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The 30-year-old is in the scoring form of his career as his goals have proved pivotal for Changchun Yatai in recent weeks.
Beijing Renhe, however, took the lead in the Chinese Super League (CSL) encounter through Cameroonian forward Benjamin Moukandjo as early as the third minute when he got on the end of a ball by Senegal strike partner Makhete Diop.
Ighalo and his teammates found the equaliser in the 17th minute through Dadi Zhou.
The Nigerian striker, however, put his side ahead with their second of the game in the 25th minute.
Ighalo also returned to goalscoring form after his last against Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday, August 4.
The goal turned out to be the winner for Changchun Yatai as the three points move them up the table to 24 points from 18 games played this season.
Ighalo’s return to goalscoring form should see him invited by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr for the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles on Saturday, September 8 even though he has hinted that some star players will be dropped for the encounter.
