REVEALED: Why NFF Has Not Disclosed Jose Paseiro’s Salary
By Our Reporter
On December 29, 2021, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in a communique after its Executive Board meeting held virtually, announced the appointment of Portuguese coach, Jose Peserio as the substantive Super Eagles Technical Adviser.
Jose Paseiro will replace Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles Handler next month.
In the announcement made, the federation did not disclose the duration of the contract with Mr Peserio nor his take home pay.
However, while it has been understood that the former Venezuela coach signed a two-year contract, the NFF, like they did in the contract of the erstwhile manager, Gernot Rohr, refused to disclose how much Mr Paseiro will earn as salary per month.
But the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick has explained why the federation could not announce his take home pay at present.
Speaking in an Arise News programme in Lagos on Monday, Pinnick said that the federation’s legal team are studying Mr Paseiro request to bring in two assistants as part of his backroom staff.
“We are still discussing with the legal committee headed by my Vice President. It is not just how much are we paying, there are a lot things.
“He is going to come with two other assistants backroom. Which of course we allowed.
“So there are alot of details that need to be discussed,” Pinnick said.
Pinnick announced also that the new coach who is due to resume in February, will live in Nigeria and monitor the domestic league, Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
“He (Jose Paseiro) loves this country. He will stay in Nigeria. We have a house in Abuja and we have a guest house in Lagos.
“He will be moving to watch all the this thing (Nigeria Professional Football League)”
Former Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr was reported to be earning $55, 000 monthly while he was in the dugout.
