Nigeria Women’s Football League side, Rivers Angels, on Thursday denied selling Super Falcons duo, Evelyn Nwabuoku and Tochukwu Oluehi, to Spanish Reto Iberdrola club Pozoalbense.
The club, in a statement signed by its media officer, Jessica Amadi and dated July 9, 2020, described reports that both players had joined Pozoalbense as “misleading and inaccurate.”
“As of Thursday, July 9, 2020, Nwabuoku and Oluehi remain bonafide players of Rivers Angels FC with existing contracts with us,” she said in the statement.
“Neither the said club nor its representatives have contacted anyone from here and hearing that they have announced the signing of our players is highly disrespectful and unethical.
“If and when both players secure any deals from teams in Europe, Rivers Angels FC will most definitely communicate it to the world via our various platforms. But for now, neither has signed anything with anyone.”
The Spanish club announced the capture of Nwabuoku via their verified Twitter June 24, while Oluehi’s signing was announced on Wednesday.
When Punch correspondent contacted Oluehi on Thursday, she declined comments on the matter.
“I don’t want to say anything on that matter. Whatever you hear from the club, I don’t know,” she told The PUNCH.
