Federer Inspires by trip to Zambia By Admin When Roger Federer isn't delivering brilliant tennis, he's busy giving back. The 20-time Grand Slam champion visited Zambia this week heading educational initiatives on behalf of the Roger Federer Foundation. The 36-year old Swiss stepped up to teach a class, kicked the soccer ball, did some dancing and presented Zambian president Edgar Lungu with an autographed Wilson racquet. "The welcome here in Zambia has been wonderful," Federer said. "The people have been super, super friendly. they could not have been nicer to me and the team of the Roger Federer Foundation. "So when you feel this way, of course you want to come back as soon as possible." The Roger Federer Foundation, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in December, supports educational projects located in southern Africa and Switzerland. Federer's mother, Lynette, is from South Africa. The Federer Foundation programs in Africa focus on the improvement of the quality of early learning and basic education for children. Federer has played several exhibitions to benefit his Foundation and points to pairing with billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates in their Match for Africa charity exos as a game-changer in his philanthropic endeavors. "Of course I'm following it closely what he's trying to do in the world obviously he's got the biggest foundation in the world, I assume, and he's so inspiring for other people to do the same," Federer said after the Match for Africa 4. "For me to maybe call upon Bill and ask him for advice or our two foundations knowing each other now. It's a different world now maybe for me. He put me together with some very interesting people. That's what he does so well because he does speak with world leaders and so forth."
