Rohr Will Sign A New Deal With Nigeria Before Deadline - Aide
By Editor
With three days to the end of one week deadline set by the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to conclude the contract renewal of the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, there is a strong indication that the deal will be sealed earlier than envisaged.
This much was disclosed by Rohr’s aide, Tunde Adelakun who spoke to a private radio station, Brila Sports 88.9 FM from his base in the United Kingdom on the lingering contract renewal of his principal (Rohr) and his role in the Super Eagles.
Adelakun who is also a Licensed Coach revealed that Rohr is ready to sign a new contract with the NFF to continue on his position as the Head Coach of the Nigerian senior football team. According to him, Rohr and the NFF are close to sealing a new contract deal as both have been working so hard to beat the set time frame, adding that he has been in constant discussion with Rohr and believes that he will soon sign an extended contract with the NFF.
Meanwhile, Adelakun seized the opportunity to explain his role in the Super Eagles set up as many Nigerians are not clear of his job in the team.
He revealed that he is working as Super Eagles Scouting Coach and not as one of the Assistant Coaches of the team like Salisu Yusuf, Alloysius Agu and ex- Coach Imama Amapakabo.
According to him, “I am not an Assistant Coach to Gernot Rohr. I am not one of the hands-on coaches. I am his Scouting Coach. I am a Licenced Coach too but I am a Scouting Coach to the Super Eagles. I am a technical person and I go out to scout for quality players for the coach”. Adelakun argued that he has used his role as a Scouting Coach of the Super Eagles to ensure that Coach Rohr does not lack quality players in the team in any given time. He said he has scouted a good number of quality players who are making good impressions in the Super Eagles at the moment.
