Their reason was that both of them have convince the football loving Nigerians enough to deserve a place in the final list despite numerous chances given to them, they failed to take advantage. Torino midfielder Joel Obi made the cut, with Mikel Agu and Ola Aina dropped by the former Niger Republic head coach. John Obi Mikel, Kenneth Omeruo, Ogenyi Onazi and Victor Moses are set to appear in their second consecutive World Cup finals. Nigeria’s hopes of progressing from a difficult group that includes Croatia, Iceland and Argentina are likely to hinge on the trio of Alex Iwobi, Moses, Mikel, as well as Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
