Former first Vice President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Senator Obinna Ogba has said that the Super Eagles have what it takes to go far as much as the semi final stage in the fast approaching 2018 world cup in Russia.
Senator Ogba added that the current form of the Super Eagles players in their different football club in Europe reassured him that Nigeria will not only qualify from the group but will play in the semi final of the tournament.
Speaking with www.bsnsports.com.ng at the NFF headquarter Abuja, he said: "Super Eagles being the first team in African to qualify for the world cup is not a fluke. Also, the players are doing well in their respective clubs in Europe. All these keep giving me hope and i see them playing in the semi final of the 2018 world Cup in Russia."
However, Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr disagreed with the semi final target stated that his team primary target is to qualify from the group and then take games as they come.
The German tactician said: "We don't have to put ourselves under unnecessary pressure, we need to take games as they come. So, setting a semi final target is not realistic. Our major concern is to first qualify from the group stage."
