Saka Becomes 2nd Nigerian To Win Community Shield As Arsenal Defeat Liverpool

By Oladele Mike

Arsenal FC of England have won this year (2020) Community Shield as a curtain raiser to usher in 2020/2021 English Premier League season.

The victory which marked the second title won by the manager, Mikel Arteta was achieved courtesy of penalty shoot out which ended on 5-4 in favour of the gunners.

The tension soaked match was tied at 1-1 apiece after the regulated time when the pacy Garbonese striker Aubameyang netted Arsenal goal just 12 minutes into the encounter.

The second 45 minutes of the game was expectedly dominated by the 2019/20 EPL Champions. And their dominance was rewarded with a goal from the boot of Minamino in the 78 minutes.

However, the Liverpool youngster, Brewster missed his spot kick which proved costly for the REDS as Aubameyang once again stepped up to take the last spot kick of the game which he masterfully buried in the net.

It seems Mikel Arteta efforts to keep the Gabonese striker is bringing out success because the striker contributed immensely to the victory of Arsenal in English F.A cup as well as Community Shield triumph over Liverpool.

With the win, Arsenal left back, Bukayo Saka is now third Nigeria player to win the English Community Shield after Kanu Nwankwo and Mikel Obi.
