SD Huesca Indicate Interest In Super Eagles Defender
By Editor
Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo could depart CD Leganes this summer as La Liga new boys, SD Huesca have indicated their interest in the service of the former Chelsea man.
CD Leganes lost their top-flight status on the final day of the 2019-2020 season and the Nigeria international does not want to play in the Segunda Division for obvious reasons.
Omeruo is a seasoned Nigeria international, appearing in two different World Cups and winning the Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles, so going down with Leganes could affect his chances of earning a call-up to the national team in future.
SD Huesca have a low transfer budget are are targeting the key players in the demoted teams – Leganés, Espanyol and Mallorca – to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Having said that, Leganes parted with five million euros to sign the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner on a permanent deal from Chelsea last summer and it remains to be seen if Los Pepineros are willing to sell him at a discount.
Omeruo, who is contracted to CD Leganes until June 2024, has 51 La Liga appearances under his belt.
