Semi Ajayi Owngoal Holds West Brom From Topping Championship Table - Latest Sports in Nigeria

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi's own goal was responsible for his club, West Bromwish Albion failure to leapfrog Leeds United to top the English Championship table on the New Year match-day, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Semi Ajayi scored an early goal for through a fine header in the two minute of the league match through Kyle Bartley assist. The hosts, with the 1-0 lead, were topping the Championship table going into the locker room at the half time.

However, seven minutes into the second half, Ajayi helped Leeds United to equalise and come back to go top of the table again when he scored into his own net.

Scoring the equaliser for the visitors, Ajayi was unhappy but his teammates cheered him up to continue the match. Leeds United are topping the table with superior goal difference as both teams are on 52 points in 26 games.

Ajayi joined the Albion this summer from Rotherham United.
