September Dates For CAF Inter-Club Competitions Exposed LMC, Club Owners

The Confederation of African football CAF, rose from an emergency meeting Tuesday with some far reaching decisions bothering on the future of African football in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Key among these decisions, was the postponement of the 2020 African Cup of Nations from it's origanal date of January 2021 to January 2022.

Other key decisions reached after the CAF emergency meeting includes…

  1. The postponement of the Total African Championship to January 2021
  2. The cancellation of the 2020 Africa Women's championship, AWCON.
  3. CAF has also scheduled September 2020 as date for the semi final and final games of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions league and CAF Confederation Cup to be played in Morocco.

By this latest action, CAF has exposed the league management company LMC and the club Owners Association of Nigeria who claimed that CAF has given Nigeria a deadline of August 2020, to submit their CAF Champions league entries prompting their decision to end the Nigeria premier league NPFL wth 13 matches left to go.

That decision was greeted with mixed reactions from football stakeholders before the sports ministry reluctantly mandated the Nigeria football federation NFF, to sit and find an amicable solution going forward.

CAF's latest pronouncement has further exposed the LMC and the Club owners as our investigation also revealed that the document being flaunted by these bodies were the original CAF Calendar that was drafted before the start of the 2019/2020 season, without taking into consideration the sudden outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic.
