Serie A: Gattuso Explains Reason Osimhen Is Yet To Score
By Sampson Adedeji
Manager of Italia Serie A side Napoli, Gennaro Gattuso, has explained the reason why Nigeria's Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is yet to find his scoring boot, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The former Nigeria's junior international just returned to action for the Naples based club after recovering from shoulder injury and Covid 19.
Despite taking part in the last three matches for the club, Osimhen is yet to register his name in the scorer sheet.
He started the first leg of round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday and Napoli suffered 2-0 away defeat to Spanish La Liga club Granada.
The former AC Milan midfielder said Osimhen is yet to hit the old form that endeared him to football lovers across the world because he was out action for a very long time.
"Victor Osimhen is still struggling to make any kind of impact.
As I already said, Osimhen was out for a long time, he’s still playing with strapping to his shoulder and is not 100 per cent. He needs to find consistency and sharpness to play his game.
"At the moment, he has these gaps and isn’t capable of moving consistently, as we’ve seen it in the statistics," he explained.
The second leg at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona next Thursday and Napoli will need something spectacular to turn the situation around.
