Sampson Adedeji
The club of Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder, Joel Obi, Salernitana has decided to sack its manager over strings of poor results, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
Obi joined the newly promoted club this season after a good outing with Verona in the Serie B last season.
Since the beginning of the league season, Salernitana has put up a below-par performance which has dumped the club in the relegation zone.
The club hierarchy on Tuesday morning confirmed the sacking of Stefano Colantuono alongside his assistants.
The Granata stated Colantuono’s dismissal with an official statement published on their website this morning. Colantuono’s assistant Gianfranco Cinello and match analyst Sandro Antonini were also relieved of their duties.
According to multiple reports in Italy, Davide Nicola is the favourite to take over at the Stadio Arechi, although former Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo also held talks with the Serie A strugglers.
