Serie A: Osimhen Hits Brace As Napoli Trounce Spezia
By Sampson Adedeji
It was a sweet victory and happy weekend for Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as he continued his scoring form for Napoli, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Partenopei wanted revenge after Spezia handed them home defeat back in January, 2021.
Victor Osimhen curled wide of the far post following a defensive error, but Piotr Zielinski opened the scoring when meeting the Giovanni Di Lorenzo pull-back from six yards.
Spezia tried to fight back with a Nahuel Estevez shot charged down, but it just left them exposed on the counter, with Zielinski sending Osimhen clear from his own half to double their lead. That was the fourth consecutive match on target for the Nigeria international.
Osimhen ’s pace was again decisive, but this time the Spezia defence was caught napping, as Lorenzo Insigne dinked up a free kick and Osimhen was there to volley in undisturbed.
Picoli reduced the deficit for the host in the 64th minute before Osimhen popped again and assist Lozano for the 4th goal in the 80th minute.
Petagna was introduced in place for Osimhen in the 82nd minute as Napoli wrapped up an emphatic 1-4 away win to go back into the top 4.
