Serie A: Osimhen May Start Season Opener From Bench

Ahead the new Italia Serie A season, the reports coming from the camp of Napoli indicated that newly-acquired Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, may start the club opening match on the bench, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Since joining the Naples based club, the former Sporting Charleroi attacker has become a revelation in the club scoring hat trick twice in warm-up games.

According to report, Coach Gennaro Gattuso was expected to test out his starting XI during a friendly against Sporting CP on Monday night, but that was cancelled at the last minute after the Portuguese team had several COVID-19 positive tests.

Osimhen requires more of a 4-2-3-1 system with more players fanning out in support of the Nigerian striker.

Instead, it will be a classic 4-3-3 formation with Dries Mertens flanked by Matteo Politano and Lorenzo Insigne.

Napoli will face Parma in the club league opener match on Sunday.
