Serie A: Osimhen Pushes Napoli Further, Abraham Fires Blank, Simy & Obi Fall To Sassuolo By Omolagba Oluwayemi Viva Osimhen!!! should be the song on the lips of Napoli faithfuls as the Nigerian international yet again proved his worth to the club scoring for the third game running as Napoli beat Cagliari 2-0 on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 11th minute, stabbing home from close range to become the joint-top scorer in Europe’s top five leagues in September. It’s his sixth strike in the last four games for Napoli, and no player has scored more in all competitions in Europe’s top five leagues this month. Osimhen was then upended by Diego Godin in the box in the second half with Napoli rewarded with a penalty which was converted by Lorenzo insigne to make it 2-0 for Napoli at the end of the night. Simy Nwankwo and Joel Obi were on the losing side as their club Salernitana fell by a lone goal to Sassuolo. The Nigerian duo got into the game in the 64th minute with Salernitana already behind but their introduction could do very little as Sassuolo held on to the goal till the end. Tammy Abraham could not rescue Jose Mourinho's Roma as they were beaten 3-2 by Lazio in the capital derby played on Sunday. Falling two goals behind, Roma scored one before the break to reduce the deficit to only a goal but found themselves 2 goals behind again in the 63rd minute. With the scores at 3-1, Jose Mourinho's men pushed high and got rewarded with a penalty which was scored but wasn't enough to secure a point for them as the game ended 3-2. In other games played where Nigerians were not involved, Juventus resisted a tough and late comeback fight from Sampdoria to record just their second win of the campaign. It was a nervy end for the Old ladies after Antonio Candreva's 82nd minute goal for Sampdoria put the scoreline at 3-2 with the visitors running all out for the equaliser in Turin but the host held their ground to record the all important victory. Empoli scored 4 but conceded 2 against Bologna ti record their third win of the campaign. Florentina piped Udinese by a lone goal. The Italian Serie A looks like it'll be totally different this term. With Napoli is 100%, Milan and Inter unbeaten, the season promises to deliver the dramas the Italian Serie A is known for in the late 90s.
