Serie A: Simy Nwankwo Scores 17th Goal in Crotone Defeat
By Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo, continued its impressive run in the Italia Serie A on Saturday as he scored again in Crotone 1-2 home loss to Udinese, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Rodrigo De Paul was the hero and villain for Udinese, he scored the decisive brace to beat Crotone, but also received a straight red for a karate kick.
Roberto Pereyra’s effort from the edge of the box whistled inches wide, but Udinese finally took the lead when Alex Cordaz made a great save using his legs on Ilija Nestorovski and De Paul curled the rebound right-footed into the top corner from 12 yards.
Nahuel Molina was unlucky as his arm was raised, bumping the ball as Arkadiusz Reca surged into the area, while Simy converted the penalty nicely.
Stefano Okaka forced Cordaz into a tough save at the near post, but Udinese restored their advantage with a moment of magnificent De Paul skill. He skipped past one defender with his first touch, then dribbled past another to deposit into the net.
Simy was so unlucky not to give Crotone an equaliser in the final minutes when he prodded the ball off the outside of the boot, it bounced off the inside of the far post and Emanuel Riviere was unable to turn in the rebound from a yard.
Nigeria international has now netted 17 goals in the ongoing season.
