Serie A: Simy Rescue A Point For Crotone
By Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo was the star of the game again on Sunday as 10 man Crotone secured a point against Benevento, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Crotone should’ve taken the lead on 11 minutes when Adam Ounas sprinted past two tackles to run into the box, but then got the simplest part wrong and fired over the bar.
Benevento scored moments later as Perparim Hetemaj chested down a cross for Gianluca Lapadula’s who then the drive the ball into the far bottom corner from 14 yards.
Vladimir Golemic left the field early too after he received a straight red card, following a defensive error where he brought down Lapadula on the edge of the box without the slightest attempt to play the ball.
Crotone were still in the game even despite being reduced to 10 men for over an hour and they snatched an equaliser in stoppage minute.
There were two runs down the right, Pereira pulling it back from the by-line, and Simy got in front of Gaetano Letizia to tap in from six yards.
Despite Crotone going on relegation, Simy has netted 20 league goals this season.
