Super Falcons Land in Abidjan in 'Rag Day' Cloth By Admin Lack of respect for women football by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) continued as the Nigeria's senior women national team, the Super Falcons players were cited at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos wearing personal clothes with different colours while leaving the country for Abidjan to continue their preparation for the 2018 African Women Nations Cup. Before now, the NFF has shown that aside the Super Eagles, no other national team is worthy of their time, money and care. CAF 1st Vice chairman, Amaju Pinnick had in April 2018 admitted that the federation neglected the hen that laid the golden egg (Super Falcons), and promised to make amends but as we all know that NFF don't walk the talk, they talk too much with little or no action. Amaju Pinnick took to his official Twitter handle and wrote: "..just shows how much work is in front of us. We concentrated a lot of our efforts on our Super Eagles, but it was unintentional. It was mainly due to situations beyond our control and not limited to finance as well. Our female football teams have always done us proud." Meanwhile, criticisms have greeted the manner Nigeria’s senior National Women, Super Falcons traveled to Abidjan, Ivory Coast en route Ghana, venue of this year’s African Women Championship (AWC). Our Correspondent cited the entire team in ordinary cloth (mufty), instead of adorning an official kitting material at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos. A fan of the team, Colins Udoh later took to his tweeter and wrote; “How can our @NGSuper_Falcons be made to travel like this? Unacceptable #RespectOurSuperFalcons” Another fan Andrew Randa‏, submitted via his tweeter handle , “What does it take to respect these ladies? Totally unfair. How can you allow them travel this way?” Aside Super Eagles, Nigeria’s men team, every other National team side have been subjected to several ‘maltreatment’ ranging from non-payment of allowances to lack of training material especially kits. However, at the inception of Amaju Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)-led administration, four years ago, a deal with NIKE, global renowned kitting company was announced by the country’s soccer body as the official kitting company. Many years down the line, there have been concerns over non-availability of the kits to various National teams. While the raging worry continue to ravage Nigerian football, no official of NFF has come open to declare how the deal NIKE has been utilised and how far the Nigerian community can benefit from the partnership. At the moment, some officials of NFF are reportedly facing corruption allegations before a constituted Presidential panel. On several occasions, the NFF has promised to correct their wrongs and even set up committees to find out what went wrong and to ensure that the culprit is brought to book. None of these committees got anything out of their meetings. Till this moment, the Committee set up to look into the missing dollars at the NFF has not submitted their reports after one year, another Committee headed by Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, set up to look into Abdullahi Shehu suspension having received two yellow in the Super Eagles two previous matches before he was fielded against Algeria in the 2018 World Cup qualifier has not named anyone. As long as the NFF continues to thread on the wrong path, it will take the glory of God for Nigerian football to move forward.
