Suraj Sodiq banned for 1 year By Niyi Busari The board and management of Nigeria National League has slammed the sum of One million and Four hundred and sixty thousand (#1.460 million) only on Osun united as fine for bringing the game into great disrepute and thereby caused great damage to the image of the league, BSN Sports reports. [caption id="attachment_6011" align="alignnone" width="225"] Osun United captain, Sodiq Suraj[/caption] In a statement made available to www.bsnsports.com.ng signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the Bet9ja NNL, Chief Lawrence Katken, which established that Osun united players as well as the fans in their week 17 home game against Delta Force beat up the match officials and the away team's players and officials. According to the statement Osun united captain Sodiq Suraj was said to have led hoodlums who descended on the opponent's officials, players and match officials. The match officials were taken to an unknown destination where they were thoroughly dealt with and left in a state of coma and the hoodlums in the process made away with personal belongings and items worth Two hundred and ten thousand naira (#210,000:00), the statement added. The letter which was released on Friday 26th October 2018 added the home team captain Suraj Sodiq is banned from all Bet9ja NNL organized matches for one year. The away team, Delta Force were not left out as they were also fined the sum of Two hundred and fifty thousand naira for disrupting the game proceedings by their players and officials. Osun United will play their next home games under strick closed doors. The statement which reads in parts; "Osun United is hereby fined the sum of One million naira (N1,000,000) only for bringing the game into gross disrepute and great damage to the image of the league. The amount must be be paid on or before 11th November 2018. "That Osun united shall play their next three home games under strick closed doors. "For bodily harm inflicted on the referee Osun United is hereby fined the sum of N250,000:00, the captain Sodiq Suraj is hereby banned for one year from all Bet9ja organized matches. "That Osun united shall pay the sum of N210,000:00 for the items lost by the match officials." The board however, gave the two clubs forty eight hours to appeal the board judgement. The appeal should be forwarded to the NFF Disciplinary Committee.
