Shooting Federation President Completes ISSF Academy C23 Course in Montenegro

ISSF ACADEMY C23 COURSE COMPLETED IN BAR, MONTENEGRO, WITH NIGERIAN SHOOTING SPORT FEDERATION PRESIDENT IN ATTENDANCE. ....NSF President, Brigadier Lonsdale says the course will help win medals in Olympics By Eche Amos Nigerian Shooting Sport Federation (NSSF) President, Brigadier-General Lonsdale Adeoye(rtd) was among other countries' Shooting Sport Federations' Presidents who attended the recently concluded International Shooting Sport Federation(ISSF) Academy C23 Course, held in Bar, Montenegro. [caption id="attachment_6019" align="alignnone" width="225"] NSF President, Brig Lonsdale in a warm handshake [/caption] The C23 course for C-license coaches was successfully conducted at the ISSF Academy accredited training centre in Bar, Montenegro. A total of 31 students from around the world attended the course, with participants traveling from Japan, Oman, New Zealand and South Africa among other nations. [caption id="attachment_6018" align="alignnone" width="300"] 31 Shooting Federation Presidents[/caption] The course was led by ISSF Academy tutors Dr. Zeljko Todorovic of Montenegro, Mr. Kimmo Yli-Jaskari of Finland, Dr. Kevin Kilty of Ireland and Prof. Claudio Robazza of Italy. From the 14th to the 21st of October, the students completed a series of technical workshops covering shooting skills and sport science activities over the course. Student-interaction in the workshops is high as the workshops are designed to push students to develop their coaching, planning and communication skills. Closing the course, ISSF Academy Head Tutor, Dr. Kevin Kilty commented: “It’s a pleasure and an honour to work with so many talented coaches. The levels of enthusiasm and the commitment to work shown during the course was outstanding. "I believe this is a good sign for the future of coaching and the future development of our sport.” A significant number of the participants had previously attended ISSF Academy D-courses and highlighted their positive experiences of the D-course as their reason for moving forward to the international C-licence. On his part, Course participant, Hiro Nagashima of Japan said: “The course was everything I expected it to be and more. The workshops are tough, but you learn a lot from the tutors. "I feel we have all learnt a lot and will be able to bring the knowledge and skills back to our federations.” According Nigerian Shooting Sport Federation President, Brigadier-General Lonsdale, he said the wealth of experience he had gathered from the course will be further impacted on Nigerian Shooting Sport coaches and athletes to prepare them for global challenges, especially the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.
