Shooting Stars' Players in High Spirit as Team Battles Rovers in Season's Opener.
By Admin Ahead of their Nigeria National League (NNL) 2021 season opener against Rovers of Calabar, the spirit in the camp of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan is very high. As the Oluyole Warriors get set to begin the race for the promotion ticket to the elite league this season, the players' mood, going into Sunday's Match Day One tie, is very positive, pointing to a victorious start. Most of the players who spoke with Shooting Stars Media, hours before the encounter against the visitors from Calabar, informed of their eagerness to take to the pitch on Sunday, having waited so long for the season to commence in the second tier league. It will be recalled that 3SC, like other NNL clubs, last played a competitive league game in December 2019, no thanks to the break of no return as well as the outbreak of Covid-19, which led to the eventual cancelation of the 2019/20 season. With the eventual commencement of the new season during the weekend, after series of postponement, the Ibadan soccer lords will start their own campaign this Sunday, with a home game against Rovers FC of Calabar. The game holds at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, the adopted home ground of the team, due to the ongoing remodelling of their traditional home ground, the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan. With the memories of missing the ticket by the whiskers some seasons ago and the botched 2019/20 season still lingering in their minds, the Oluyole Warriors are set to go for a successful campaign this season, hoping to make a strong statement with a convincing win over the visiting Rovers. With a quality squad, made up largely of players who have been with the team for long, victory for the Stars in this particular tie looks very certain. However, the technical crew and the players are not looking down on their opponent, believing that they will not be an easy nut to crack. "It is not going to be easy against Rovers, who are equally a good side going by their antecedent, but we will definitely go for nothing but the maximum points to kick start our campaign on a sound note", 3SC Chief Coach, Edith Olumide Agoye summed it up. Shooting Stars are up against a Rovers side that is being tutored by veteran tactician, Samson Unuanel, hence, an interesting encounter is in the offing. The game kicks off by 4.pm.
