Shooting Stars Win 2019 FCT Grassroot Football Championship

Shooting Stars FC of Casana Gwarimpa on Saturday emerged the champions of 2019 Thrift Echoes grassroots football competition.

The eventual champions defeated Thrift Echoes team B 7-6 on penalties after a barren draw in the regulation time.

The final game which started with two teams parading talented young and upcoming players who were searching and determined to break the deadlock in the early minutes of the crucial match .

The two teams despite their attacking prowess were unable to unlock their defenses throughout the duration and have to settle for the penalty shootouts to decide their fate.

Shooting Stars were a more lucky side as they edge Thrift Echoes B 7-6 on penalties to emerge champions of 2019 Thrift Echoes Grassroots Football competition.

On the road to final particularly in the semis, Thrift Echoes outscored Gwarimpa FC 2-1, while Shooting Stars also defeated New stars of kuchiBena with same goal margin 2-1.

Speaking with journalists at the final match played on Saturday at the Baptist training football pitch Kubwa, the chief organizer and chairman of Thrift Echoes FC, Comrade Emeka Odionye Franklin described the tournament as a way of bringing the youths together and as avenue of creating peace within the community.

Comrade Emeka also stated that this will also prepare his team (Thrift Echoes fc) to the upcoming FCT league annual competition comrade Emeka who was happy after hosting the tournament successful expressed his appreciation to Mr Obiwanne Okene the CEO of Invictus Group who have supported him from the beginning of the competition to the end.

Emeka said next year will be more than this.
