Sikiru Alimi Makes Case For NPFL Players

Despite playing in the Tunisia league, Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Sikiru Alimi has stated that the Nigeria Professional Football League players can challenge for Super Eagles shirt if opportunity is given.

Alimi joined the Tunisia side Stade De Tunis in 2019 after making his mark with Lobi Stars of Markurdi, BSN Reports.

He further explained that lateness in preparations cost the home based Super Eagles a place in the 2020 Championship of African Nations ( CHAN).

"We have lots of good players in the league if given the opportunity they will do well in the national team like Gbolahan Salami, Azubuike Egwueke, Sunday Mba etc they were given the opportunity and they took it.

The difference between the Tunisian league and NPFL is that their games are on television, better welfare package for the players, good facilities and so on. If those in charge of the NPFL can put things in place then our league will be better than it is.

Late preparation cost us that game we got to camp late and you know the league wasn't on so most of us were just playing friendlies and pre-season tournaments to keep fit. We scored first and boom we lost concentration", he concluded.
