Sports Minister To Inaugurate Boards Of Sports Federations In Abuja Today By Our Reporter Arrangements have been concluded for the official inauguration of the newly elected 21 Board members of the National Sports Federations by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, which is to be done at the Velodrome on Friday. The 2021 National Sports Federations Elections Guidelines stipulates that, “all electoral Boards of the National Sports Federation are to be inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, at a date convenient for him but not later than four weeks from the conclusion of election.” Recall that, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development recently released 2021 National Sports Federations Elections results, which was conducted on September 30, 2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, after elections of other institutions and the six-geopolitical zones were conducted. However the elections into the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF and Badminton Federation of Nigeria, BFN are yet to be conducted following the internal wrangling that has resulted in litigation in the latter, while the stakeholders in the NBBF are yet to settle on its Constitution. Saturday was scheduled for the NBBF Extra-Ordinary Congress where dates of elections and review of constitution among others are top on the agenda.
