Stoke City Manager Heaps Praises On Mikel On Away Draw

By Sampson Adedeji

Head coach of English championship side, Stoke City, Michael O'Neill, has hailed the contributions of former Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi after helping the team to secure away point against Milwall BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Mikel posted a man-of the-match performance in the keenly contested encounter and was able to stabilize the Potters' midfield.

O'Neill during post-match conference hailed Mikel and hope he will get better as the league progresses.

“I was pleased John Obi," said O'Neill.

"John needs more football, clearly. He’s come in but hasn’t played any football since March. We got 45 minutes into, a bit more against Leeds and he got 70 against Newcastle.

Game by game he’ll get stronger.

“I think he gives us a real presence in there, he’s got brilliant game knowledge and it will help other players like Sam Clucas and Nick Powell, make them more offensive," he said.

The game ended in a goalless draw.
