Sunshine Queens of Akure stopped Nigeria Women Premier League champions Bayelsa Queens FC winning streak in a Match day Four encounter at the Akure Township Stadium.

In the first half of the game, the host attacked Bayelsa Queens which made the girls from Yenagoa falling back to defend and Bayelsa Queens made just one attempt at goal.

The Akure ladies pressure paid off in the 37 minutes when Tina Oyatheleme headed home from close range to give Sunshine Queens the needed goal and the first half ended one nil.

On resumption in the second half of the game, the Restoration Girls from Yenagoa, played more purposeful football controlling the game and putting pressure on their host, but Sunshine Queens stood their ground and the match ended one nil in favour of the Akure ladies.

Technical Adviser of Bayelsa Queens FC Moses Aduku said they will work to plug the loopholes and that he is still confident his team will qualify for the Super Four and added that the better side won on the day.

Bayelsa Queens FC, despite the loss still top Group C with nine points followed by Sunshine Queens on seven points, Nasarawa Amazons who lost 0-2 away to Kaduna Queens are on four points while Kaduna Queens are on three points.

Next game for the Restoration Girls will be away to Kaduna Queens while Nasarawa Amazons will battle Sunshine Queens in Lafia.
