Sunshine Stars Owing Players More Than 4 Months Salary - Captain

Sunshine stars captain, Sunday Abey has exclusively told Nigeria Info’s Chidiebere Anugwolu that the State Government is owing the team more than four months of their salaries.

The 29 year-old captain who was speaking on the recent appointment of returning manager, Gbenga Ogunbote says live has not been easy for him and his players and they have been made to eat from hand to mouth, borrowing from family and friends.

Abey says while they’re being owed more than four months of their salaries, they still have to do their jobs as players for the Akure based side once professional football finally resumes in the country.

Sunshine Stars have lost some of their players to their rivals in the Nigeria Professional Football League as Nigerians look forward to lifting of suspension on football activities by the Federal Government.

Sports activities were suspended in Nigeria in March, 2020 following the outbreak of Coronavirus but suspension was lifted on non-contact sports while contact sports like Football, Boxing, Judo Basketball, Taekwondo are still still suspended.
