Sunusi Screamer Earns Nasarawa United First 2019 NPFL Away Win

Sunusi Ibrahim netted what could contend for goal of the season as Nasarawa United recorded their first away win in two seasons in Nigeria's top flight following a 1-0 win over their hosts, Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The Nigeria Professional Football League week 13 encounter was still goalless following a flurry of misses by Abia Warriors strikers when a defensive blunder allowed Ibrahim to strike from outside the box in the 75th minute to beat goalkeeper Godgift Elkanah and ensure the Solid Miners achieved a double over Abia Warriors for the first time in six seasons having won the reverse fixture by the same goal margin in Lafia in week one.
Perhaps, the story could have been different for the home team if they had taken the numerous chances that came their way but paid dearly for their profligacy when the visitors, who only had a point to show in five previous away outings, seized the initiative and duly got the back breaking goal.
Substitutions effected by the home team Manager, Henry Makinwa could not change their fortunes as the Warriors failed to win at home since February 6 in a week seven encounter that saw them beat neighbors, Heartland of Owerri 1-0.
Next for the Warriors is a game against Go Round in Omoku this weekend.
