Africa and Egypt champions, Al Ahly continued their dominance on the continent as they edged Morocco's Raja Casablanca in the Qatari capital Doha on Wednesday in the Super Cup, BSNsports.com.ng can report.
Hamid Ahadad gave Raja a 13th-minute lead as the Red Devils looked porous at the back and toothless upfront.
Just when Raja were about to celebrate a looming win, substitute Taher Mohamed Taher struck in the 90th minute to spark jubilant scenes at Al-Rayyan Stadium.
In a keenly contested penalty shootout, both sides converted their five spot kicks with some powerful shots that both keepers were unable to stop any of the kicks.
However, Ahly settled the tie in their favour in the sudden death, with Akram Tawfik converting his penalty and Raja's Abdelilah Madkour blasting his effort over the bar.
Winning the game with 6-5 now make Ahly the most successful club in the competition with 8 titles.
