Super Eagles’ Rating Player-By-Player In Defeat To Central African Republic

The Super Eagles suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Central African Republic on matchday three of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. 5,000 fans watched as one of the biggest upsets in world football played out. BSNSports.com.ng was there at the Teslim Balogun Stadium and presents the player ratings' from the disappointing game.   Francis Uzoho : Called to action as he made a vital save towards the end of the game. 5/10 Ola Aina: Good interplay between Aina, Simon, and Aribo, but he did not get into position often enough to send the needed cross into the box for Osimhen. Many of his crosses were wayward. 3.5/10 Leon Balogun: It ended as a terrible evening for the Rangers centre-back, having continued his partnership in defense with captain Troost-Ekong. He had a sharp volley fly just above the bar in the second half but was involved in the mixup that led to the CAR winner. 3/10 William Troost-Ekong: Did well despite his team conceding a late goal in the game. 5/10 Jamilu Collins: Not one of his best performance for the Super Eagles. The left-back didn’t make much impact in the game. 4/10 Frank Onyeka: The Brentford midfielder was impressive in the game but his first half was a better outing than the second. Sprayed the passes well and was supportive of Collins when the Paderborn defender darted forward. 6/10 Joe Aribo: The Glasgow Rangers star was deep lying in his playmaking role albeit he lost possession several times. 5.5/10 Kelechi Iheanacho: The Leicester man wasted a glaring chance to score. He would have redeemed himself with an assist for Victor Osimhen but the latter lost that chance. Subbed off at half time. 5/10 Chidera Ejuke: The skillful midfielder cum winger was a delight to watch and was the fans' only cause to smile with his footwork and brilliant link up play. 7/10 Moses Simon: Full of energy but his decision making was not top notch. 6/10 Victor Osimhen: The Napoli striker bullied his markers at will but he was guilty of missing two gilt-edged chances to score. 5/10 Substitutes Taiwo Awoniyi: The Union Berlin hotshot was introduced for his senior debut at the break for the injured Iheanacho as the home side looked for a breakthrough. He nearly broke the deadlock, but an opponent blocked his shot, and he missed his header meters away from the goalie shortly after. 6/10 Samuel Kalu: The Bordeaux man came on for Simon with 20 minutes left. He showed his dribbling skills soon after, but his final ball left much to be desired. Looking to make more impact, Kalu then struck a free-kick wide off target. 5/10 Ahmed Musa: No meaningful impact from the Fatih Karagumruk man for the minutes he spent on the pitch. 4/10
