Super Eagles Awaits FIFA Approval For September Double Friendly Matches
By Editor
Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, says that the Super Eagles are waiting for the approval of football governing body, FIFA, for the two friendly games proposed for next month in Austria.
Rohr stated this while speaking with Sportinglife, saying that it would be very conducive and easy for the release of the players from their clubs if FIFA eventually sanctions the dates.
He also emphasized that it is the job of the NFF to secure the release of players for the matches and not him.
Rohr said: “We are waiting for the official decision of FIFA if this window in the first week of September is an obligation for the club’s to let go (release) the players we will invite. So this is not my job, it’s an administrative thing. So we are waiting for that.
“We have to wait for traveling restrictions to be lifted in all the countries our players that would be invited are playing.
“Then there is an obligation before you can travel which is the COVID-19 testing which must be negative before any player can board a plane. So the most important thing and the final step are answers coming from FIFA and the NFF.”
