  Super Eagles Defender Acquire Portuguese Citizenship By Sampson Adedeji Nigeria's Super Eagles and Boavista defender, Chidozie Awaziem, added feather to his cap on Tuesday as he acquired Portuguese citizenship, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The versatile defender started his professional career with Nigeria Professional Football League Club El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri before moving to Europe in 2015. He signed for Portuguese giant FC Porto in 2015 and made 62 appearances for the reserved side of the club, then made 2 appearances for senior side. Since then he has been sent out on loan in various clubs across Europe and presently on loan with another Portuguese side Boavista. According to Portuguese law, an individual is eligible for citizenship through naturalisation after six years of residence. He went on his social media handle to express his happiness over the new achievement. "What God cannot do does not exist, now a Portuguese,” he posted on the social media, while holding his Portuguese passport," he said.
